Jorge Dieppa

Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He moved to New York City in 2002. Later he earned his MFA in set design from Brooklyn College (CUNY), were he is currently an adjunct professor in the Theater Department. Some of his recent theater credits include: Blue Surge, Sight Unseen, The Crucible, The Beauty Queen of Lennane, La Celestina, Same Train, Into the Woods, City of Angels, The Snow Queen, The Taming of the Shrew, Urinetown, Lysistrata and the New York premier of Five Kinds of Silence by the playwright Shelagh Stephenson for Boundless Theater Company. He was part of the first Boundless Exposed festival hosted by Boundless Theatre Company. The event involved an experimental process where resident designers directed and designed the original piece “Seven Days” by Kisha Burgos. In film he has worked as art director for the feature civil war epic “Legged Red Devils”, and a the TV pilot “Accidental Heroes”, both for C-Squared Productions. He is part of the design team at Spaeth Design, designing the famous Christmas windows for Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Currently he is the resident set designer for Elisabeth Irwin High School.

A Multifaceted artist, he is also an experienced actor with credits in theater, film, TV, and radio. As a radio actor he worked for the Drama Project of the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Puerto Rico (WIPR) for several years. His acting credits include Jav & Joss, Nuestra Señora de la Tortilla, Tiempo Muerto, Amor a los 21, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Romeo and Juliet, and Melodía Salvaje, Reflejos, Noche de Halloween, and Caras (the last as part of the Monaco International Theater Festival). On TV, he starred in films like Vampiros, Sudor Amargo, Plaza Vacante, the miniseries Papá Mendigo, and the soap opera Cuando despierta el amor, all produced in Puerto Rico.

In 1996, Dieppa won the Best New Actor of the Year award granted by the Theatre Critics’ Circle of Puerto Rico. In New York, Dieppa has collaborated with Karina Casiano in her independent projects ¿Qué me trajiste?: Cabaret Boricua, and Colonia 2007 o el cabaret de los días terribles at HERE Arts Center, and appeared off-Broadway at Repertorio Español in The Dog in the Manger.
